Election “Family Chat”

Pastor Phil invites you to a “family chat” the evening of Tuesday, October 29 at 7:00pm. One week before the election, we’ll gather to discuss how to approach it as Christian exiles on pilgrimage here in “these dread latter days of the old violent beloved U.S.A. and of the Christ-forgetting Christ-haunted death-dealing Western world” (Walker Percy). 

There will be a few rules:

1. Before the chat proper starts, we’ll swear the loyalty-oath to the King (aka the Apostles’ Creed). That’ll keep us in mind of where our ultimate citizenship lies (see Philippians 3:17-21).
2. Everyone will work hard to be as honest as possible, Democrats, Republicans, Common Good Conservatives, Catholic Integralists, Christian Socialists, Libertarians, undecideds, you name it.
3. Everyone will also work hard to love and honor everyone else, esp. if you find you disagree strongly with a brother or sister. 

Then, we’ll do the powerful thing. We’ll pray. Please do come!
